ALBERTO DIAZ Obituary

ALBERTO DIAZ EDINBURG - Alberto Diaz, 61, died on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Solara Hospital in Edinburg due to a long and hard fought battle with diabetes. He was born on June 22, 1953 in Edinburg, Texas to Oscar Diaz, Sr. and Hortencia Rodriguez Diaz. He is preceded in death by his father and brothers, Rolando, Rene and Jaime Diaz. He is survived by his wife who he considered his best friend, Dianira Salinas Diaz, of Edinburg; daughter, Marissa Laura (Alfredo) Alejandre, of Houston; son, Marcos Alberto (Mari) Diaz, of Houston; mother, Hortencia R. Diaz; siblings, Diana E. Garza, Mary Ann (Robert) Cantu, Oscar (Lori) Diaz, Jr., David (Lisa) Diaz, Rodolfo (Lynda) Diaz, Ruben Diaz and Raymond (Anna) Diaz, 10 – grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Alberto was always a gregarious person who loved to make noise wherever he went. Old friends and family knew him by "La Bola" and "Thunder" due to his loud and unruly character. He graduated from Pan American University in 1975 and earned his Customs Broker License in 2002. He earned his way through college playing the drums on a scholarship and working with local bands here in the valley. If you were his friend, you were his friend for life. Music was always in and around Alberto. He said that nobody could take it away from him, it was in his blood. He loved to play golf, travel, dance and enjoyed music of all genres. Now that he is free from all his pain, we know that wherever he is now, he is cranking it up and letting loose on the dance floor. He will be truly missed by his family and all those whose lives he touched. His family will receive friends on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. for a Memorial Service to Celebrate his life that will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn, Edinburg, Texas. Please join his family and friends to share stories, love, and give thanks to the Lord for helping to heal him and release him from his ordeal. Many thanks are extended to all the staff and doctors who treated Alberto at Rio Grande Regional, Mission Hospital, and especially to the staff at Solara Hospital for caring for him as if he was one of their own. He has left his mark with many of the nurses who have cared for him over the years inside and outside of the hospital. His family would also like to give thanks to the many prayer groups that helped spiritually through this very trying time. Funeral services have been entrusted to Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home in Edinburg. Sign the guest book at www.themonitor.com/obituaries
