Charles Heiting Obituary
Theatre was his life. He first performed on the main stage at Governor's State University at age 8 and last performed in Fairfax High School's 2018 fall musical. In all, Charlie was cast in more than a dozen productions, both in school and community theater. He was an eager teacher of his craft, participating in several drama camps as a counselor and had just completed a musical theater workshop on Broadway.
Charlie is survived by his mother, Belia "Bea" Cottrell, father, Francis "Frank" Heiting and stepfather, Alan Cottrell. He also leaves behind his grandparents, Trini (David) Benavidez and Eliazar (Connie) Campos. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, William Heiting. His granny, Lois Heiting, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. Also surviving him are numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Friday, February 1, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Hawkins Funeral Home in Weslaco.
Funeral mass will be Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 12 p.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
Though Charlie's bright light shone for a short time, it shined on numerous people and will live on in the hearts of many.
Funeral services are under the direction of Hawkins Funeral Home in Weslaco.

Charlie was a favorite of ours at the Homewood Public Library. I always looked forward to his visits, and he always knew how to bring laughter and smiles to the youth department. He had such a dynamic personality and was an extraordinary kid. My heart was broken when I heard the news that he had passed. My prayers are with all of his loved ones.
