Charles Stewart Obituary

Edinburg - With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Charles "Chuck" Stewart, a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, and a friend to all whose lives he touched. A courageous and adventurous spirit, he was born on May 30, 1949, in Trenton, Michigan, and passed away on July 27, 2023, in Edinburg, Texas. He was a man of many talents, but above all, he was humble, dedicated, and always up for an adventure. As Chuck Lindbergh once said, "Life is like a landscape. You live in the midst of it but can describe it only from the vantage point of distance." Chuck lived his life to the fullest, always seeking out the best vantage points.

Chuck was a skilled pilot, soaring through the skies with the same courage and determination he brought to every aspect of his life. His love for aviation was only surpassed by his love for his family. With his wife, Lou, at his side, Chuck journeyed through life with a sense of adventure that was infectious. His dedication to his work was evident in his long and successful career in the aviation industry. His Christian faith was an essential part of his everyday life. He spent a great deal of time mentoring young Christians and building the faith worldwide. He was a true testament to the saying, "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."

Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Lou, and their children, Karen Phipps, William Stewart, Jose Dacasa and Daniel Dacasa. He was preceded in death by his father, William Stewart, and his mother, Dorothy Archer.

His life will be celebrated with a funeral service on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at 12:00 pm CDT at the Church of the King, 7401 North Ware Road, McAllen, Texas. He will be laid to rest at 2:00 pm CDT at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 Inspiration Road, Mission, Texas.

My deepest condolences to the Stewart family. I had the pleasure of working with and servicing with Chuck during the A.C.T.S. Retreats in McAllen in the early 2000's. Chuck was a true man of faith. May Jesus The Christ open heaven for Chuck and receive him into His loving arms. Lou and family, know that my prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult time. God's blessings always!

I'll certainly miss him as I have a lot to thank Chuck for. Chuck was one of the first people I met when I moved to the Rio Grande Valley. One of his longtime friends from work introduced us and soon we were all touring across Texas on our motorcycles together. Once he even let me pilot his plane over Edinburg - wild! I've been lucky enough to see some great sights with Chuck and share a number of really good adventures with him too. He had some amazing stories to tell and a character to match. Thanks Chuck.
