Daniel Casanova Obituary

Edinburg - Daniel Casanova, 66, joined our Father's kingdom in heaven Wednesday, August 3, 2016. We lost a soul that can never be replaced.

He is preceded in death by his parents, David B. and Otila V. Gonzalez; and a sister, Linda Gonzalez.

Daniel is survived by his devoted wife Frances Casanova; his two daughters, Aisia Casanova, Autumn Casanova (Christopher Steven) Ross; his son, Daniel (Melissa Ann) Casanova Jr.; and his six grandchildren, Serenity and Madison Ross, Hope Danielle, Ocean Rose, Mercy Rayne and Daniel Casanova, III; five sisters, Mary Salinas, Angie Garza, Elvira Villarreal, Isabel Perales, Dolores Daniel; and two brothers, David Gonzalez, Dario Gonzalez.

Daniel was an incredibly hardworking man, a cement mason, a construction worker; a man who could do it all. He was not a rich man but what he gave us was more precious than diamonds or gold. He lived a life enjoying the simple and natural things that this world had to offer; working the land, the sun on his face, watering his yard, a cool breeze, a sky full of stars, and most importantly, sharing these moments with everyone he loved. Money could not buy what this man had to offer. He generously gave his time, energy, love, experience, advice and would rescue anyone in need. Asking was not required, he never said "No."

Daniel enjoyed driving around in his old pick up truck with his granddaughters, working in the sun until exhaustion, and watching boxing on Friday nights. He lived to serve his family. He had a way of thinking that was so original and innocent. You could not resist but be drawn to this man and his dynamic appeal. We can never thank him for all he has done for his children and grandchildren; we will never be the same. He was a perfectionist in everything he took part in and was very proud of his work. He was always the first man on the job and the last man to finally stop and call it a day. Daniel was not always an easy man but it was his imperfections that made him so perfect. God made this man different and everyone who knew him has benefited from the bright and charismatic charm he exuded. All who knew him experienced love, joy and someone to count on. After speaking to friends about what they remember most about this amazing man, they all echoed, "Dan the Man could fix anything!"

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 6:30 p.m. rosary today, August 7, 2016, at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment of cremated remains will take place Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.

My deepest sympathy to my sister in law Frances, niece Aisia, nephew Daniel & niece Autumn Casanova, his daughter in law, son in law and grandchildren. May the Lord bring you peace and comfort during this difficult time. Treasure all those memories you build during time with him. Take comfort in knowing he is with the Lord. Danny accepted the Lord as his Savior and I know where he is right now. I will miss his calls and his jokes. My brother was a fighter. He always worked hard for his family and provided what was needed. He adored his grandchildren. Loved you till the end. RIP Danny.
