I first met Dan Stevens back in the early 80s at Webster university! Over the years, we had so many meaningful chats, and also got to perform in his big band on a few occasions! He was a most true supporter of the music community and will be sorely missed.

My life is richer for having known Dan! He had an abundance of courage. I enjoyed performing music with him. He was devoted to the music community. I miss Dan Stevens!

My dear & treasured friend in high school, I´m sorry we lost touch. But I smile as I remember skipping school and playing pool together, riding around in our big gas guzzlers, taking your little sister trick-r-treating at the `good houses´.. and when you showed up on my mother´s birthday with your suitcase & guitar, saying your parents had kicked you out and asking if you could stay at our house, then laughing "April fools!" when she said of course you could. Though too short, it seems that you led a richly blessed life. (photo: 11 November 1972)

I had the pleasure of knowing Dan for about 15 years. He was an excellent musician and a man that was committed to presenting music of all kinds at the theatre he owned. Dan was a hero in my humble estimation. A Vietnam Veteran who had courage and dignity and faced his own health problems with determination. I had the great opportunity to perform with Dan numerous times and treasure that memory. I will miss him very much.

Growing up we were best friends. We spent hours playing pool and working on cars. We once ran a shuttle service parking cars on his property during the 1971 Ryder Cup. What I remember most was him being the only friend to visit me in the hospital after my motorcycle accident, he made me laugh. I never thanked him for that. Thank you Dan. Later I got married and joined the service, stayed for 20 years. I seldom came back to St Louis but when I did I would try to see him. With Love Brian

Dan will be sorely missed by all of us that played with the Letter Carrier´s Band and with the Monday Senior Jazz at the Ozark Theatre. He was a talented, sincerely nice guy and no doubt will make beautiful music in heaven!
With love to Maugie and family,

I loved working with Dan, and when I say working, I mean making and playing music. Great guy and I'm saddened by the news. RIP, Dan.
