David Zapata II

1942 - 2016

Edinburg - David Zapata II was called to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at Amara Hospice in Edinburg, Texas. A native of Edinburg, David, 73, was born on October 15, 1942. He attended Edinburg schools and honored our nation by serving in the Army National Guard. Following his honorable discharge in June 1961, David began his lifelong career as a truck broker. Together with his loving wife, Alicia Longoria Zapata, they attended El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church in Edinburg. A good and faithful servant, David continued to seek God's word and remained steadfast in his faith, service, and humanitarian giving. He left behind a prevailing legacy of love and compassion, which profoundly affected the lives of many. Living a full life filled with wit and charm, David was a man who respected others and possessed noble character traits of kindness, honesty, and courtesy. He is proceeded in death by his parents, David and Maria del Refugio Ortiz Zapata; son, Rolando Zapata; niece, Renee Carmela Salinas; and nephew, Mark Anthony Zapata. He is survived by his wife Alicia Longoria Zapata; sister, Adelmira Salinas; brother, Daniel (Ninfa) Zapata; sons, Oscar Xavier Zapata; Raul (Lilly) Zapata; and four grandchildren, Orlando Zapata; Nellie Renee Zapata; David Ryan Zapata; and Drayk Sirilo Zapata.



Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2016. Both visitation and service will be held at El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church, 705 E. University Drive, Edinburg, Texas.



Interment of ashes will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Edinburg, Texas on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.
