Ella Gonzalez Obituary
Ella was a very lively, happy person who enjoyed attending family gatherings. As a single parent for many years, she raised Sergio, her only son, into a respectable young man, taking him and following him to swim meets across the state. She worked for 28 years with PSJA ISD as a teacher's assistant and as a sales associate for Joe Brand for many years until her retirement. In her retirement she enjoyed spending time at the casinos, playing loteria with family, and traveling.
Ella is survived by her husband of 25 years, Amador Gonzalez; her son, Sergio (Ashley) Nunez of Arlington, TX; daughters, Sandra (Guadalupe) Cano, Cynthia (Michael) Ortega, both of McAllen, TX; her brother, Ciro Gomez of Edinburg; two sisters,Oralia Martinez of Galveston, TX, Delia Alaniz of San Juan; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Lucio Jr., Homero, Baldomero and Marcos Gomez; her sisters, Connie Arcaute, Josefa Suarez, Heriberta Quintanilla and Emma Luna; and her in-laws, Pedro and Octaviana Garcia.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary Thursday, August 22nd, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 12 noon Friday, August 23rd, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Parish in San Juan. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission, Texas.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
