GABINO MARTINEZ
EDINBURG - Gabino Martinez, 72, entered into eternal rest on May 3, 2009, at Renaissance Hospital. He was bom on February 19, 1937 to Sabas and Eluteria Martinez. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Cassandra "Cassie" Martinez. his parents and two brothers, lsidro Martinez, Luciano Martinez Sr.; his sister Irma, Martinez; and sister-in-law, Irene Martinez. Left to cherish his memory is his loving his wife of 49 years, Manuela "Mela" Martinez; his children, Marcos (Victoria) Martinez, Nilda (Daniel) Salas; grandchildren, Marcos Antonio Martinez (Jeanette), Kristian Ashley Martinez, Daniel Salas; Daniel Salas, David Salas; and one great-granddaughter, Allison Ariel Martinez. Also surviving him are his brothers, Natalio Martinez., Trinidad (Manuela) Martinez, Ramiro Martinez, Alvaro (Margot) Martinez, Sabas (lrene+) Martinez; and his sister, Alicia Martinez as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Martinez was owner/operator of Martinez Drive Inn until his retirement in 2000. Gabino will be remembered by all who knew him as a wonderful father, husband, grandfather as well as a good friend with a wonderful gift of giving. His generous heart, compassion, and friendship will always be remembered by all who knew him. He will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held on May 6, 2009, at Gonzalez Family Funeral Home in Edinburg from 11 m. to 9 p.m. with a holy rosary being prayed at 7 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be on May 7, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Funeral services and arrangements are under the direction of Gonzalez Family Funeral Home of Edinburg.
