Gerardo Gonzalez Obituary
McAllen - Gerardo Mario "Jerry" Gonzalez entered into eternal rest peacefully early Friday morning, after a lengthy health battle the Lord called him home. He is preceeded in death by his parents, Servando L. Gonzalez of Roma and Elma G. Gonzalez of Rio Grande City TX. He was a graduate of RGC High School where he met his wife of 46 years, along with countless longtime friends. He was a retired Liutenent of the McAllen Fire Department, and will be honored for his service at a funeral mass Wednesday May 4. 2022 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. As a lifelong catholic this will be a celebration of his life. He was also a proud member of the Sons of the American Legion of Post 93, and served in many roles throughout his years of service. He will fondly be remembered by his loud and boisterous personality and jovial smile. Grandpa Jerry had an emense love for his family especially his 4 grandchildren, who he saw or spoke with daily. He is survived by his wife, Margarita O. Gonzalez, daughter Diandra Y. Gonzalez, daughter Karina F. Rivera (Ben), son Gerardo X. (Jerry) Gonzalez (Elizabeth) and his four grandchildren Dianthe Yzadora Gonzalez, Kassian Royce Rivera, Korbin Rhys Rivera and Letty Noelle Gonzalez.
Funeral Arrangements are as follows: Tuesday May 3rd 2022- Viewing from 12-9pm with a Rosary beginning at 7pm. Wednesday Funeral Mass at OLS Catholic Church at 10am with a reception to follow at Old Church Winery, 700 N. Main, McAllen TX 78501. Internment TBD. Pallbearers are his son Jerry, son-in-law Ben, lifelong friends Patricio and Luis Hernandez, Hector Cantu, and Gilbert Gonzalez, and longtime family friends Rocky Ramirez, Lee Lopez, Sael Balboa, and Daniel Martinez. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren, Dianthe, Kassian, Korbin, and Letty. His family would like to extend a Thank You to everyone who has kept them in their thoughts and prayers throughout his hospitalization. They would especially like to thank all the staff at McAllen Medical Center (STHS), Mission Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, and Solara Specialty Hospitals for their care and attention. Also the staff at Funeraria del Angel, and Our Lady of Sorrows Parish. Lastly they wish to thank everyone who has helped the family ease into this new chapter with grace and dignity.
