Glenna Smith Obituary

SMITH , Glenna J GLENNA JOSEPHINE SMITH, 81, of Stewartstown, Pa., formerly of Baltimore, Md., died December 23, 2007. Born January 2, 1926 in Greenville, Tn., she was a daughter of the late Nick and Molly (Blackley) Shepherd. She is survived by her husband, L.C. Smith, whom she married on May 17, 1943; her daughter, Phyllis A. McDearmon and her husband Kenneth of Stewartstown, Pa.; her grandchildren, Rommi Kinard, Trisha Durand and Angela Shue; six great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Lee Smith; and her siblings, Lena Maude Tipton, Robert Shepherd, Lucy Fender, Oscar "Jerry" Shepherd, and Frances Girten. She worked for 18 years at the former Carr-Lowrey Glass Company in Baltimore, Md. and enjoyed quilting and making appliqued quilts for her family.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Friday December 28 at the J. J. Hartenstein Mortuary, Inc., 24 Second Street, New Freedom, Pa. Viewings will be 7 to 9 pm Thursday and 9 to 11 am Friday at the mortuary. Interment in New Freedom Cemetery will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, 910 17th Street N.W., Suite 1190, Washington, D.C. 20006.
