Guadalupe R. Gonzales

Mercedes - Guadalupe R. Gonzales, affectionately known as Mimo to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, entered into eternal rest on September 11, 2025, at the age of 98. She was born on December 12, 1926, to Juan Rios and Maria Rodriguez.

Guadalupe was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Alfredo Gonzales; her parents; and four brothers. She is survived by her sister, Irma Gonzalez; her children, Alfredo Gonzales (Dora), Rosie Zamora (Frank), and Emilia Treviño; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who cherished her deeply. A special recognition is given to her eldest granddaughter, Idalia "Edie" Villarreal (Gilbert), who lovingly cared for her with a daughter's devotion.

A woman of strong faith in the Lord, Guadalupe lived her life with thoughtfulness, thrift, and a directness that was both endearing and wise. She took joy in the simple yet meaningful act of writing and editing greeting cards, ensuring that her love for each recipient was perfectly conveyed. Through her words, her faith, and her presence, Guadalupe left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.

She will be remembered as a strong, loving presence in the lives of her family, whose legacy of faith, resilience, and love will continue for generations.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 14, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Garcia & Treviño Funeral Home, 439 S Vermont Ave, Mercedes, TX 78570 with a Rosary to be prayed at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, September 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1100 Broadway St, Elsa, TX 78543 with Interment following the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery in Mercedes. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Garcia & Trevino Funeral Home of Mercedes.
