Hernan Diaz Obituary

Mission - Hernan Diaz, 83, passed away February 28, 2021 at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen. He was born and raised in Mission, and later joined the US Army. Hernan was a man of many talents. He worked as a butcher in the family business, owned an auto body shop, worked on commercial neon signs, flipped properties before it was a trend and did carpentry as a hobby. He then became an employee for 28 years with the Edinburg School District as a vocational teacher. He was the founder, owner, and operator of the Trenton Point Reception Center. Of all of his accomplishments, his family was the one he was the most proud of. He was a family man that many would look up to, and always had advice for the younger generation.

He was preceded by his parents Alberto and Petra Leal Diaz; siblings Eduardo "Lalo" Diaz, Hermalinda (Mela) Martinez, Bertha Cortez, Emma Rendon, Christina "Tina" Martinez, and Rosalinda "Rosa" Ortiz.

Hernan is survived by his wife, of 61 years, Maria Luisa Diaz; daughters Maggie (Lanny) Rojas, Nilsa (Eddie) Jarero, Nilda (Arnulfo) Garza, Melinda Diaz; grandchildren Victoria Rojas, Angela Rojas, Daniel Rojas; great granddaughter Encelia Maria Santore. He is also survived by his brother Antonio "Tony" (Nena) Diaz, as well as by a large family including nieces, nephews, and more friends than we can count.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021, from 5-9pm with a 7pm rosary at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home, at 520 Ash Ave, McAllen. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 5, 2021, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.

We are grateful for all the prayers, phone calls, and cards we have received. You are all welcome to attend the services, however due to the Covid 19 Pandemic we understand if your not comfortable attending.

Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in McAllen.
