IRMA G. CHARLES McALLEN - Irma G. Charles, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at home peacefully surrounded by her loving family. Irma was born November 19, 1920 in Eagle Pass, Texas to Santos Gil and Guadalupe Montalvo de Gil. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Daniel Gil, sisters; Aida Razon of Monterrey, Mexico and Guadalupe Flores of Saltillo, Mexico. Irma is survived by her children, Irma Rivera of Mission, TX, Yolanda (Jose) Rivera of Hidalgo, TX, Rosa Maria (Bill) McCarty of Houston, TX, Olga (James) Love of Temple, TX and Robert (Cindi) Charles, Jr. of San Antonio, TX, two sisters; Maria Eugenia Flores of Houston, TX and Herminia De La Garza of California, nine loving grandchildren; Patty Bazaldua, Ramon Rivera, Jr., Claudia Hallquist, Martha Laura Rivera, Monica Rivera, Gerardo Rivera, Marissa Ramirez, Aaron McCarty, and Yvonne Charles, seventeen loving great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as many lifelong friends; Iris Ortiz, Teresa Medrano, Margot Rowland, and Eva Martinez are greatly saddened by her loss. Special thanks for the kindness of care giving shown to our Mother, for the last 7 years, from Rosalia, Maricela, and Edith. Also special thank you to Dr. Dam Smith from Scott and White Health Care. Without them (and others not mentioned) we could not have given her quality and quantity of life, until God called her home. She started working for her dad at his lumber yard in her teens and continued to work for Rowland Construction, Dr. Laura Guerra, and McAllen Medical Center till she retired at age 75. Mom loved working in her yard and making cuttings of her plants to give to family and friends. She would always say "this way my plants will live forever, if you care for them properly". And then she would proceed to tell you how to care for them. Mom's generous heart, helping hand, and the love of her family and friends will always be remembered. She fought the good fight, till the last heart beat given to her by the Grace of God. Her favorite son, "I Did It My Way". "This day is remembered and quietly kept, no words are needed we shall never forget, for those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen and unheard, but always near, so loved, so missed, and so very dear". Visitation were held on Monday, June 15, 2015 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at Ceballos Funeral Home of McAllen. Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated today, Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in McAllen.
