My dear Isela, it has been ten years and I still miss you. Your laughter, smile and oh the stories we shared! We only knew each other for ten years through Texas Exes and Porky. During that time we decided we were long lost Mexican-German sisters destined to meet up again. Yes, you made a difference to family, students, and friends around the world. Thank you for the memories. Love always, Shirley

It'll almost be ten years since you were called to Heaven by Our Maker next month. What I wouldn't do to spend five more minutes with you. I miss you so much, it's hard to breathe sometimes. Literally. I miss you more and more each day. I feel so cheated. Your oldest grandson is graduating next year and you aren't here. Your son got married and you weren't here. Daddy lost his mom and his wife within a two month time span. You were supposed to spend your Golden Years together. Now Daddy is alone.
How is this fair? I want to accept His Will but sometimes, it's just so hard. No matter how much time goes by, the void in my shattered, bleeding heart aches uncontrollably, day after day, month after month, year after year. I love and miss you, Mommy. I hope and pray that we'll be together again soon.

Our condolences to the family of Isela Gonzalez. I worked with her through Project PACE as a mentor teacher for several of our teachers. She always had a smile and encouraging words for the teachers she was supervising. She always took some time to ask about my classes and how my wrestling teams were doing. She never had to do that but she took great joy in knowing that she was a welcome sight in my classroom. I will definitely miss her coming by and asking if we could talk for a few minutes.
We lost a great person. I only wish that I can live up to her expectations for all of her students. I feel blessed to have been touched by her kindness.

Mr. Gonzalez, Joey, Debbie and the Gonzalez and Vasquez family we would like to extend our deepest condolences to all of you on this untimely passing. We are saddened to have heared of it. May the memories that she left in your hearts forever remain until you meet again. I need to share with you that the last time I saw Ms. Gonzalez she was doing consultation work @ La Joya's Ann Richards M.S. and she was so worried and asked me if anyone had turned in this gold bracelet. Long story short she had placed it inside a notepad. The bracelet meant the world to her because it was a gift from children. She was so relieved to find it she came back elated to tell me and that was my last encounter with her and a memorable one that told me alot about her love for her family.May God give you strength during this difficult time are my most sincere wishes. To the Gonzalez and Vasquez Families:
Isela brought light to all of us and our world. She was always ready to hear about the success of her former students. Many years ago I called her at 11 pm from Starr County Jail to inform her that one of her former students had just passed his GED with flying colors. I told him that there must be one teacher that he was especially grateful to and he quickly replied, MRS ISELA GONZALEZ. She let out a good victory yell when I called with the news. One more jewel to her collection. I sincerely hope that Roma ISD honors her in a special way for they were truly blessed to have her. My condolences to the Gonzalez and Vasquez families. RC Salinas

My most sincere condolences to the Gonzalez family.... Mrs. Gonzalez touched the hearts of every student she taught and inspired more people than she'll ever know.... She truly believed in ALL of her students!!! Mrs. Gonzalez won our attention by winning our hearts.... Mrs. Gonzalez was and still is loved by many if her students because we always felt the love and passion she put into her work.... One of the greatest honors and privileges I have was being invited by Mrs. Gonzalez to Austin to witness her receiving the Outstanding Teacher award (even after I had moved to San Antonio).... Mrs. Gonzalez, you may be gone but never forgotten.... You will forever live in the hearts of those who had the honor of calling you "Mrs. Gonzalez--my English teacher"
