Jackie hired me to be an elementary music teacher in McAllen right out of college. She inspired me to be a great teacher and was always a great friend. I loved her dearly and will never forget her kindness to me. My sincere condolences to the Pride family.

I was probably one of Jackie's first students. I was in the third grade when she started the orchestra program in Edinburg. I continued to study privately with her for many years. If it had not been for her, I'm sure my career path would have been very different. As it was, I studied violin through college and graduate school, playing professionally in several orchestras and teaching orchestra for over 40 years. I owe my love of music to Jackie. I hope I have inspired some of my many students the way she did. She was dearly loved by many. She was such a a giving person. Later, when many of us had gone away to college, she hosted us in her home to play chamber music at Christmas time She was always eager to join us in our little orchestra reunions. She even played violin at my wedding. I am sorry that I now live out of state and will not be able to attend her service. My heart will be there with all of you as you gather to celebrate the life of a most beautiful lady! I love you, Jackie Pride!

I owe so very much to Jackie. She hired me to teach orchestra in McAllen right after college. Those were wonderful years under her leadership, right before she retired. I think of her often. Thank you!
