Jacqueline Pride

Jackie hired me to be an elementary music teacher in McAllen right out of college. She inspired me to be a great teacher and was always a great friend. I loved her dearly and will never forget her kindness to me. My sincere condolences to the Pride family.

I was probably one of Jackie's first students. I was in the third grade when she started the orchestra program in Edinburg. I continued to study privately with her for many years. If it had not been for her, I'm sure my career path would have been very different. As it was, I studied violin through college and graduate school, playing professionally in several orchestras and teaching orchestra for over 40 years. I owe my love of music to Jackie. I owe so very much to Jackie. She hired me to teach orchestra in McAllen right after college. Those were wonderful years under her leadership, right before she retired. I think of her often. Thank you!
