Visitations will be from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2010 and Sunday, May 9, 2010, with a rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at Flores chapel in Mission. Funeral mass will be said at 11:30 a.m., Monday, May 10, 2010 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at RGV State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Corpus attended Mission High School and served in the U.S. Army for three years. He was stationed in Germany and served during the Berlin Crisis. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a humble man and everything he did was done out of love. He was a devoted parishioner at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and one thing he enjoyed doing was volunteering his time there and at the OLG Catholic School. Mr. Corpus was a self-employed mechanic so he usually was the one that was called to fix the OLG parish vehicles, which he enjoyed doing without any complaints. He also loved helping out during the Jamaica and Palm Sunday. Any event going on at OLG, Mr. Corpus was always seen there helping. Everyone knew that he was someone that you could count on for anything. If there is one thing that could be said about him is that he was always joking around, even while he was in the hospital. He knew how to make the best out of a bad situation.
Mr. Corpus was also an outdoorsman. One of his favorite things to do was to go hunting and fishing with either his family or friends. It was a hobby that he got to share with his children and grandchildren. He was never one to be sitting down. He always loved to be outside fixing something, taking care of his cows, or doing the yard work.
Jose Corpus was truly loved and will be greatly missed. Thanks to everyone that made his last days comfortable and full. Thank you for the prayers, calls, cards and visits.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in memory of Mr. Jose Corpus to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission.
"Happy trails to you, until we meet again. Happy trails to you, keep smilin' until then. Who cares about the clouds when we're together? Just sing a song and bring the sunny weather. Happy trails to you, 'till we meet again." -Dale Evans-Rogers.
