What can I say about my Tio except that he was so kind and loving. Eveytime he visited us in Phoenix, he brought joy to our family. I remember that he & my Tia Mona used to love to go to Arizona Mills Mall, where they would "shop till they dropped", always shopping to take gifts home for their kids. I remember one time when my Tia & Tio came to Phoenix My mom and I went to pick them up. I knew they would be hungry, so I made my favorite dinner for them...Chicken Divan. This chicken is baked with brocolli and has a white sauce. I served them a huge plate, and they both started eating. It made me so happy that they were enjoying my food. After they finished their first plate, I asked if they wanted more. My Tia Mona said no thanks, but my Tio ever the most gracious person I've ever met, said he'd take a second helping. I was estatic! The next day that I went to have some Chicken Divan, I realized that instead of making the gravy with flour, I used sugar instead!!! I couldn't eat one bite. I don't know how they managed to eat one plate, let alone the second helping my Tio had. They never complained, just gracious that I made them a special dinner. There are not too many people in the world who wouldn't have complained, but not them. They will always hold a special place in my heart, and whenever I make Chicken Divan, I will think of them (and use flour, not sugar). Rest peacefully with your beautiful wife! Love you, Rosie Padilla Bowen

Mr. Salas was a great man. I have known Mr. Salas since 1979 when we bought the house next door on 17th street in Edinburg. I have grown to love his family. We will deeply miss him like we still miss his wife Ramona. The good thing is that they are back together again. I could always see in them the love they shared. Salas Family, please be strong and may GOD give you the strengh to continue life sherishing his memories. Love, Gloria Miranda (Rios)
