Juliet Bonham Obituary

Weslaco - Juliet "Judy" Washington Pursley Bonham, 96, passed away at John Knox Village in Weslaco on Saturday, October 29, 2022, surrounded by her loved ones. Juliet was born on March 28, 1926, to Rev. Harvey and Jewel (Michie) Washington in Blanco, Texas. Judy spent most of her childhood in Methodist Parsonages across South Texas. As a Methodist minister, Rev.Harvey dedicated his life to serving the Lord as called. A career that required the family to move often.

After graduating from Lomita High School, Judy attended Southwestern University in Georgetown. She married Theodore Vincent Pursley, and they adopted their two sons. They spent most of their married life in San Antonio, where they owned and operated P.W. Pump; a company focused on drilling oil and water wells.

After Ted's passing in 1980, Judy reconnected with Wayne Bonham, an old friend from Edinburg. Judy and Wayne were soon married and spent the rest of their lives together. They were a great couple. Wayne was the owner of Hargill Growers Gin, and a Cotton and Citrus Farmer. Juliet intuitively helped him with his agriculture business. Wayne and Judy would travel the world. They loved Mexico, its culture, and its people the most.

In addition to travel, Judy loved photography and pictures. Her pictures were some of her most prized possessions. Judy loved nature, especially butterflies!! She was also a bird watcher, a cat lover, a reader, and a friend to everyone.

Judy had a great sense of humor that could brighten up any room. She was sassy, too! Her intuition was spot-on, just like a mother's always is. Judy was very thoughtful, always remembering special things about the people in her life. She was known to order Blizzards from Dairy Queen for all of the kitchen staff at John Knox Village. She wanted to "treat" them as good as they treated her!

Judy is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Theodore Pursley and Wayne Bonham, and siblings, Frances Michie Washington and James Washington (Kay).

She is survived by her children, Dr. Terry V. Pursley (Missy), Larry Pursley, grand-daughter who Judy referred to as her daughter, Jennifer Gonzalez (Thomas), Vicki Bonham Shields (Bruce), Becky Bonham; grandchildren, Garrick Pursley (Jeannie), Sloane Smith (Adam), Audra Boyd, Thomas Bounds (Laarni), Kyndel Bennett (Laura), Fara Primas (Joshua), Austin Hyde (Christina), Alison Hyde (Stephanie), Geneva Stacener, and Patric Ryan; great-grandchildren, Ashleigh and Emilee Lopez, Thomas Wayne and William Ben Gonzalez, Avery, Hannah, and Emerson Pursley, Kimber, Jaxson, and Andyrson Boyd, Seth and Sage Moyer, Conor Smith, Tommy Bounds, Marina Akima, Trinity Hernandez-Ryan, Jack Ryan, Barkley and Johnny Bennett, Evan, Elijah, Evie, and Ella Hyde, Avery, Mae, Jada, and Andrew Hyde, and finally, Juliet was blessed to have also lived to be a great-great-grandmother to Jaclynn Belle.

Graveside service will be held at Mission Park South in San Antonio on Saturday morning, November 26, 2022.

Jennifer,

I only met your grandmother a handful of times. But it was always clear the love shared between the two of you. And I could always tell how much she adored all of your kids.

I know losing her is bittersweet. Your hearts ache in desire to have her here with you still. But your mind rejoices at the knowledge that she is "having dinner with Jesus" everyday now.

May your hearts soon catch up to your minds and be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.

Love you and am praying for all of you.
~~Evelyn
