I was just thinking about my uncle and these three words came to mind: Soldier, Statesman, and Father. He is what I would call one of the 7. Since this great country was founded only 7 percent of men and women have served this country. This means if 100 people stood up and someone said who will protect and defend these people only 7 people would step forward and my uncle would be one of those seven. Someone once stated, thank a farmer for providing food for your table, but most important thank a solder for providing you the peace to eat the food on your table. My uncle was both a farmer and soldier, it doesn't get any better than this. As a politician, my uncle persevered to serve his constituents. He didn't go into commissioner's court carrying law books, but the knowledge of working the land as he and the land were as one. There is talk in today's school system about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). Well the schools should have communicated with my uncle. He understood the Sciences of knowing what crops to plant during Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall. In regards to technology, how many people can state they can operate a combine, tractor, etc. and my uncle knew how to utilize this technology. If you look at a farm field, just amaze yourself on the symmetry of the rows, now that is engineering at its best. Finally, my uncle was adept in mathematics to ensure the ratio of seeds to plant and the ratio of fertilizer to utilize; now that is geometry, calculus, differential equations and discrete mathematics all from my uncle. Lastly, he was a father to my cousins and a loving husband to my aunt. As a man, he provided the basic essentials to his family: food, clothing, and shelter and no man could ask for anything more to provide to his family. I know my uncle is in heaven with his tractor and planting the seeds of good will in all of our hearts.

Let us pray: God of power and mercy, you have made death itself the gateway to eternal life, please look over the fallen, Leonardo Camarillo, make him one with Your Son in his suffering and death, that, sealed with the blood of Christ, he may come before You free from sin. So he may rest in eternal peace. Amen. Our condolences to the family. God bless you all.
