LEONEL "LEE" HERRERA

EDINBURG - Leonel "Lee" Herrera, 59, died on March 27, 2007 at Audie Murphy VA Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Lee was born in the Valley and graduated from McAllen High School. He also attended Pan American College and Texas Southmost College in Brownsville. Lee was a veteran of the US Army and served one tour in Viet Nam in 1969-1970. He was involved with produce shipping and ranching in South Texas. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and his friends.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents Leonel & Bertha Herrera. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Herrera of Edinburg; his two sons, William L. (Priscilla) Herrera of Edinburg and Christopher J. (Brenda) Herrera of Weslaco; his daughter, Mauri K. Herrera of McAllen; stepson, R. Ryan (Cynthia) Van Nest of Sharyland; sister, Sandra (Mario) Hinojosa of McAllen; brother, Jose M. "Jimmy" Herrera of McAllen; and 12 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from to 8 p.m. today, March 30, 2007, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kreidler Funeral Home, 314 N. 10th Street. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2007, at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Members of VFW Post 8788 will conduct military honors. Kreidler Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of the arrangements.
