LEONEL PULIDO Obituary
ELSA - Leonel Pulido, 67, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Edinburg Regional Medical Center.
Born in La Palmita Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Mr. Pulido lived in Elsa most of his life. He was a well recognized and respected accordion player in the Tejano industry. He touched many lives with his music and contagious smile. His music and legacy will live on as he was one of the pioneers of Tejano music.
Leonel is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Santos and Julia Pulido; three brothers, Jose Pulido, Adelmiro Pulido, Luz Pulido; nephew, Martin Pulido.
He is survived by his wife, Nieves Pulido of Elsa; two sons, Leonel (Yesenia) Pulido, Jr. of Edinburg and Leonardo Pulido of Elsa; two daughters, Sonia (Arnoldo) Garza of Edinburg and Sindia (Hector) Reyna of Houston, TX.; three grandchildren; three brothers, Pedro Pulido of Edinburg, Aaron Pulido, Federico Pulido both of California; and a sister, Maria Singleterry of Edinburg.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, June 21, 2012, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 E. Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 22, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.

Mr. Leonel Pulido will be dearly missed. He was a great family friend. My father looked up to him and enjoyed his music very much. They were friends for many years, meeting in California when migrating. Something we will always remember is him being my nephews accordion teacher, my dad Chuy Garcia and nephew Jesse recorded 2 CDs with all the songs he learned from Leonel. May he rest in peace! Thank you all for your all the love and support that you have shown our family. My dad Leonel Pulido's passing took us all by surprise but we were very, very blessed to have my dad with us for such a long time. We have nothing but great memories of my father. It is those memories and all the outpouring of love and support from all those who knew him personally or have been somehow influenced by my dad's incredible talent and humility. We were so shocked and sadden by the news of Leonel's death. We are great followers of his music. He would always come to our table and talk to us. My sincerest condolences to the Pulido family
I was fortunate to play a few gigs with Leonel back in the day in Sanger CA: the band included; my brother-in-law Nato Diaz, Jorge Garza, Leonel and myself. On occasion, Roberto Pulido joined us. We were called Los Cardenales. I learned a lot during those years. Lionel was very patient with me and taught me the meaning of respect towards others. He was a fantastic musician and more importantly a great man, I will miss him!

It was a great honor meeting Leonel in Refugio one night to give him a ride to Corpus for a gig, he was on his way back from Houston, visiting his new born grandbaby. His family kept calling him to see if he was ok because they didn't recognize the vehicle he got into. We had some good laughs that night, are thoughts and prayer our with the Pulido Family(GOD BLESS)

Want to express my deepest condolences to the Pulido Family on the tremendous loss. Hopefully it will bring you a little bit of comfort to know that he was so Loved and Respected by SO many people all over the state of Texas as they toured with the Roberto Pulido Y Los Classicos Band. As a matter of fact I have followed this band and has been my favorite band for many years.
I will keep you in my prayers and will be asking God to please give you all the strength necessary to get you through this difficult time which I know you will endure.
