Lisandro Zamora Obituary

LISANDRO ANDRES ZAMORA
SAN MANUEL - Lisandro Andres Zamora, 86, died Monday, March 3, 2008 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Mr. Zamora was born in Los Ebanos to a pioneer family of the Rio Grande Valley. He was a veteran of the US Army and fought in Guadalcanal during WWII. He was discharged with honors and was later employed by the US Postal Service. He retired from the US Postal Service after 26 years and took over his father's ranch.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Florentino and Marcolfa Zamora; four brothers, Abel Zamora, Ruben Zamora, David Zamora, Rodrigo Zamora; and a sister, Alicia Zamora.
Mr. Zamora is survived by his wife, Esperanza Barcenas Zamora of San Manuel; five children, Jesus (Sylvia) Ortiz, Rosario (David) Theiler, Francisco (Lori) Ortiz, all of Houston, Texas, Lisandro (Jennifer) Zamora, Jr. of Austin, Texas and Marcolfa (Jeffrey) Zamora-McQuillen of McAllen; ten grandchildren; two sisters, Berta Z. Hinojosa, Esther Zamora, both of Edinburg; and a brother, Enrique Zamora of San Manuel.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary today, March 5, 2008, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2008, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in San Manuel. Interment will follow at El Rucio Cemetery in San Manuel.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.

Dad,
I had to some and see your obituary again, it's unbelievable to me that you are gone from our earthly life. I know that someday we will see you again. Mom, she is coping she misses you more than words can say. Dad, we love you and I know that right now you are running, climbing and just having a good time in heaven where I know in my heart you are. I miss you and love you very much I only wish I could have told you more often how I felt.

I send you my condololences from with all my heartfelt sympathy. I can only imagine how much his family will miss him. In some ways he was like my grandpa Felo; quiet, humble, and quite an intellectual for a man of very few words. They both shared the same birthday, 'same day as Winston Churchill' Grandpa always said. I just lost my Grandma Carmen a few weeks ago so I know this is a difficult time.
Remember just like a lot of us, I'm here for you. I'll be thinking and praying for all of you.
