LUZ MARIA GOMEZ
EDINBURG – Luz Maria Gomez passed away to be with Our Lord, Friday, September 23, 2011, at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston after fighting a brave battle with Leukemia.
She worked for several decades at the UT Pan American Print Shop as a Printer. She loved her job because of her untiring work ethic. But, what she enjoyed the most in her life, was fishing. She was happiest when she was sitting, waiting for a bite on her line.
She is survived by her sister, Noemi "Mimi" (Don) Cardenas, her brother, John (Letty) Gomez; her brothers, Lazaro (Rebecca) de Leon, Victor (Amparo) Perez , Jose (Concepcion) Cuellar, and her sister, Gloria Cuellar. She has two nieces, Margaret "Myssie" (Xavier) Barajas, Marissa Cardenas, and was preceded in death by her nephew, Don Cardenas, Jr. She is also survived by her dearly loved grand-nephews, Xzavier Michael Barajas, Xander Mitchell Barajas, Nicolas Lindsey-Cardenas, Samuel Lindsey-Cardenas and Gabriel Gomez. Although she never married, she was considered to be a second Grandma to them.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 6, 2011 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary, at Memorial Funeral Home, 208 East Canton in Edinburg. A private family funeral service will be held at a later date.
Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.
