Margaret Garza Obituary

Edinburg - Margaret (Margarita) Saeta Garza, 94, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017, after a long and full life, at The Gardens at Brook Ridge Assisted Living in Pharr.

Margaret was born on December 30, 1922 in Pharr, TX to Antonio and Agripina Garza Saeta. She was the younger sister to Francisco and Roberto, whom she adored. Margaret graduated from PSJA High School and attended Pan American Junior College before marrying Baldemar Lino (B.L.) Garza on March 15, 1943. After their children were grown, she joined B.L. at the family business, Garza Pharmacy in Edinburg. After retiring, Margaret continued to enjoy gardening, sewing, painting, baking, and playing golf, to the delight of her fortunate family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers, and many others whom she cherished.

Margaret is survived by her daughter Adriana Garza; her son Carlos B.L. (Dolores) Garza; her daughter Teresa (Robert) Vina; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

The family thanks the staff of The Gardens at Brook Ridge for the kindness and affection they gave Margaret during her final months. If Alzheimer's could be defeated by force of will, Margaret would have done it. In honor of her effort and in recognition of the ongoing needs of others, the family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation, 110 East 42nd St, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10017, or the Alzheimer's charity of your preference.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary today, August 1, 2017, at Memorial Funeral Home of Edinburg. Private interment will follow at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg.

My deepest condolences to your families during this difficult time. It was both an honor and a privilege to have met and cared for your mother. She was a sweetheart, a firecracker, still full of zest and spunk for a young lady her age. Thank you for the wonderful last few months which you allowed myself and my co workers to care for Miss Margaret. She will remain in my heart and my prayers. My prayers are with you and your families. May she rest in eternal peace and the perpetual light shine upon her always. Sincerest hugs and blessings, Christina Perez

Dear Cousins,
We have very fond memories of your beautiful Mamacita! She was always so nice to our family, but I especially remember the bond she had with my parents, Baltazar and Zenaida Chapa. They would visit each other to share recipes, family stories and admire each other's gardens and exchange plants! Thank you "Mage" for your kindness. Rest In God's eternal peace

I have always loved and admired Aunt Margaret's sense of humor, her strength, and her high expectations of all of us. I always wanted to make her proud when I saw her - I knew she would be asking what I was doing and expecting excellence! May God Bless her and all of the family. I love you all! Brenda Gayle
