Maria Luisa Prado

Edinburg - Maria Luisa Prado passed away on January 1, 2022. She was the daughter of Guadalupe (Sosa) and Eusebio Benavidez of Pharr, Texas. She was married to Roel Prado of Pharr , Texas for 25 years. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Gabriel Benavidez, sisters, Aleia Garcia and Esperanza Martinez, her nephew and niece, Jorge (Jojo) Martinez and Elizabeth Anzaldua. She is survived by her brother Eusebio (Jimmy) Benavidez Jr., her sisters, Alma (Mina) Espinoza, Gualdalupe (Peter) Guerra, Elva Kimbrel. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.

Children : Paulette Louise Garza, Pablo Salinas Jr, his wife, Natalie A. Salinas, Marie Suzanne Salinas, and Sergio Omar Salinas and 7 grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Mary was the type of person that enjoyed life, laughter and being around friends and family. Her energy could light up a room, and her sense of humor kept people engaged in conversation. She was an in-charge kind of person, a natural problem solver. She was intelligent, creative, fun-loving, and generous. Mary spent time working on arts and crafts; she liked to sew and decorate. She enjoyed traveling, visiting places like Mexico, Italy and Hawaii.

Mary was an educator at Pharr San Juan Alamo school district and worked in sales. She was passionate about teaching and working alongside children, watching them learn and grow.

A rosary was held Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. today, January 7, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.
