Melba Coody Obituary
Melba grew up in the small community of Linn-San Manuel, attended Brewster School and graduated from Edinburg High School in 1961. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. For 27 years she worked for the Hidalgo County Head Start Program in Edinburg. During her time there she had opportunities to travel across the US to conferences and trainings both to present at and attend.
Melba had a love for travel and loved her family like no other. She spent many nights with her friends "The Golden Girls" playing poker or going to the "maquinitas".
Melba was proceeded in death by her parents Luis and Teresa Flores, sister Sylvia Guerra, and brothers Luis Flores, Jr., Jesus Flores, Romeo Flores, Jorge Flores, and Oscar Flores.
She is survived by her son Louis Coody and wife Sherri of Lewisville, TX, daughter Christine Molis and husband John of McAllen TX, grand children Andrew Rains and wife Tisha, Hannah Christine Coody, Natalie Anne Coody, Julia Christine Molis, Victoria Danielle Molis, and Joshua Alex Molis, great-grandchildren Orion, Tristen, and Lillie Rains.
Melba will forever be known for her humor, cooking, and most of all her love for her family.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at McAllen Medical Center for their care and compassion during her final days, and her doctors Terry Posluszny and Dona Cooper-Dockery and their staffs for the many years of exceptional medical care.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 12:00pm-8:00pm at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen with a rosary at 7:00pm. Funeral mass will be Friday, March 5, 2021 at 10:00am at St. Anne's Catholic Church in San Manuel.
All COVID-19 precautions will be in place, and masks will be required.

I had the honor of working alongside Melba for 27 years at Head Start. Melba was not only a friend, she was a like a sister during those many years. We shared many times of laughter during funny times and many tears during sad times. Melba had a natural elegance about her that few truly possess. She also had the biggest heart. I witnessed on many occasions her compassion and support to those who needed it. On a lighter side, Melba had a unique way of expressing herself, which we called "Melbonics". While she had many friends and loved ones... the true loves of her life were Louie and Christina. May you be comforted by the outpouring of love that everyone had for your Mom. Love You!
