Rafaela Garcia Obituary
Rafaela attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Alamo. She lived in Alamo all of her life. She was a sweet and humble person that always served others. She always lent a hand to those in need. Her joy and peace spread throughout any room that she was in. Although a woman of few words, she was always respectful, full of laughter and gave great advice to her family and friends. She was the light indeed. She had a heart of gold that never went unnoticed. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She especially loved playing Chalupa Bingo surrounded by her family. At every birthday, she gave thanks to The Lord for blessing her with another year and would say that when the Good Lord was ready for her, she would be ready to depart this Earth to serve her King up in Heaven. Rafaela was a woman of great faith that even in her advanced years, she never forgot to pray her daily rosary. She was a faithful church member of Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo, TX.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Santana Garcia, Sr. and parents, Bonifacio and Severa Alvarez of Alamo.
Rafaela is survived by her children, Juanita (Jorge) Carrizales, Olga (Pablo) Rodriguez, Santana (Genoveva) Garcia Jr., Ramona (Jose+) Barron, Alicia (Isidro) Zavala, Alvina (Alejandrino+) Morales Sr., Isaac Garcia, and Adam (Lydia) Garcia; 22 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren, one sister (Guadalupe De La Garza) and one brother (Bonifacio Alvarez, Jr.).
Visitation will be from 3 pm to 9 pm with a 7 pm rosary on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at De Leon Funeral Home of Pharr. Funeral Mass will be at 10 am on Friday, April 28, 2023 at Resurrection Catholic Church in Alamo. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Alamo under the direction of De Leon Funeral Home of Pharr.

My sincerest condolences for the family at this time. You have my deepest sympathy and unwavering support in prayer. Wishing you peace, comfort, courage at this time of sorrow. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time. Rafaela was a sweet and generous person in all aspects. She took me in when I was 17 she helped me learn life lessons. An incredible grandmother to my children and her memories will live on through all of us.
