Ramona Gonzalez Obituary

MRS. RAMONA R. GONZALEZ
EDINBURG - Mrs. Ramona Reyna Gonzalez, 91, our mother,grandmother, and great grandmother was born on March 30,1916 in Reynosa, Mexico to Jose and Anastacia Reyna. On March 12,2008 she was called to the Lord to join her husband Benito O. Gonzalez; her infant son Benito Gonzalez Jr., her two brothers Bernardo Reyna and Paulino Reyna; her sisters Genoveva Reyna, Maria Cruz Reyna, and Aniceta Perez.
During the 1920's her family migrated to the United Staes and settled in Edinburg. She married her husband after his service during WW II. She dedicated herself to raising her four children; volunteering at school functions, and serving to become President of the Parent Teacher's Association at Stephen F. Austin School during the 1950's.
She was active with the Girl Scouts and became den mother for her son's Boys Scout Troop. She was also a well known seamstress sewing custom made clothing for many within the Edinburg area. Due to her failing health she had been a resident of the San Juan Nusring Home for the past eight years. She lived a full and loving life with her family. She will be dearly missed. Her memory will continue to live in our hearts.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; daughters Maria G. Laudenslager of Austin, Carmen (Guadalupe)Villanueva of San Juan, Norma (Rafael) Lorenzana of Edinburg and a son Jaime Gonzalez from Thousand Oaks, California; her two nephews, Robert and Ralph Perez and a niece Ernestina Guerrero all from San Antonio.
Also seven grandchildren-Deena Figeroa, Joel Villanueva, Norma Lisa Villanueva,Dr. Neena (Kevin) Champaigne, Marco R. (Elizabeth) Lorenzana, Lucas A. (Ruby) Lorenzana, and Carlos R. Lorenzana; and seven great-grandchildren Marcus, Estefan, and Alexia Figeroa, Sydney and Ryan Champaigne, Diego and Micaela Lorenzana.
Having the honor the serve as pallbearers are her grandsons, Joel Villanueva, Marco R. Lorenzana, Lucas A. Lorenzana, Carlos R. Lorenzana, and her son in laws Guadalupe Villanueva and Rafael Lorenzana.
The family had a gathering on Thursday, March 13, 2008, at Gonzalez Family Funeral Home, 812 E. Cano in Edinburg, with the Divine rosary prayed at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be today, Friday, March 14, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church of Edinburg. Interment will follow to Hillcrest Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements and services are being directed by Gonzalez Family Funeral Home, LLC. of Edinburg.
