RAYMUNDO OCANAS Obituary

RAYMUNDO O. OCANAS
Raymundo Ocañas Ocañas, age 71, passed away just past midnight on the morning of Tuesday, October 25th, 2011 at DHR Renaissance in Edinburg. Though he fought a long and courageous battle with lung and heart illnesses, he took his last breath with his wife, four children and many grandchildren at his bedside.
Don Raymundo was the source of joy, laughter and support for many, always thinking of others before thinking of himself. He was born on April 10, 1940 in Montemorelos, Nuevo León, México. He married his wife, Lucila Garza in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, México in 1961. They were blessed with four children, Diana Angelica, Leticia, Mirna Nelly and José Reymundo. He and Lucila made their life in McAllen, Texas and were graced with 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Raymundo focused all his love and generosity on his family, but was equally caring and giving to extended family and friends. He will be remembered for how much he loved life, the great stories he told, the many jokes he repeated and how much warmth and comfort he brought to those around him. He loved to dance, he whistled while he worked, and most tears he ever shed were of joy.
He was immensely proud of his children and their children, always participating in every milestone, from graduations to birthdays, celebrations and gatherings. He was an accomplice in every game and joke his grandchildren came up with, and never feared giving his advice nor offering his shoulder to lean on.
Raymundo was preceded in death by his parents, Raymundo and Carlota, brothers Samuel and Octavio, and sister Margarita.
The family will receive guests for visitation from 2 to 9pm, today, October 27, 2011, and 8:30am to 12:30pm Friday, October 28, 2011, at Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen. Funeral service will be at 1pm, Friday, October 28, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission.
Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen is in charge of funeral arrangements.
