Robert Sanchez

1965 - 2022

Edinburg - Robert Sanchez, age 57, passed away early Friday morning, August 12, 2022, at DHR in Edinburg. He was born February 25, 1965, in Houston, Tx but was raised in Edinburg where he attended school. He was a proud Edinburg High School Bobcat where he participated in cross country track. He graduated in 1983 together with his life-long friend, Joe Hernandez, who remained faithfully at his side until the very end.

Robert moved to Houston in 1987 and lived there for 32 years. In 2019, with the help of another close friend, Marcos Reynosa, he was able to move back to his childhood home in Edinburg. Soon after, he became an employee at Napa Auto Parts in McAllen. His boss, Lupe Garza, shared kind remembrances of customers who appreciated Robert and his dedicated service. Our family is appreciative of the financial generosity in which Lupe and his staff remembered Robert.

Robert was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan. He was also a die-hard UT Austin Longhorn fan and, as he liked to say, "I'm a Longhorn on Saturdays and a Cowboy on Sundays."

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Candelaria S. Pina, his brother, Jesus Alberto (Jesse) Pina and his sister, Mercedes (Mercy) Chavez.

He leaves behind Blanca Estella, his wife of four years along with her family: daughter, Nayeri, son-in-law, Jairo Acuna and daughter, Tania Davila of Vera Cruz, Mexico. Their children fondly remember and miss their "Abuelo Robert" whom they shared many fun memories with.

Robert is also survived by his two sons, Robert, Jr and Matthew, one daughter, Graciela and two grandchildren, all of Houston. Survivors also include his nephew, Daniel Pina of McAllen, Lucas Pina of Weslaco and niece, Kristina Lake of Dallas; two maternal uncles, Jose Sanchez of Houston and Arturo Sanchez of Ewa, Hawaii, four maternal aunts: Angelita Mendoza of Houston, Estela Morin, Elvira Rodriguez and Irene Guffey, all of Edinburg plus numerous cousins.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ric Brown Funeral Home of Mission, Texas. A church service will take place at Compaderismo Cristiano Fe at 301 N Nebraska Ave in San Juan, Tx on Saturday, August 27, 2022.
