Roberto Quintanilla Obituary

San Juan - Roberto Quintanilla, Jr., 38, died Saturday, January 1, 2022, at McAllen Medical Center.

Robert was born on January 21, 1983 to Eva and Robert Quintanilla Sr. in McAllen, TX. After graduating from PSJA High (Bears) in 2001, he worked for Mobile Crane, AEP, and Magic Valley and joined the Police Academy in Mission, TX.

After graduating from the Police Academy, he joined Pharr Police Department in 2009, where he served in different capacities for 12 years. He was a Patrolman, K9 Handler, Task Force Officer, Criminal Investigator, and Special Response Team Operator.

A great son, husband, father, and friend. He was an incredible father who was very committed to his family. He was an excellent investigator who was passionate about his job and was loved and respected by so many. He will forever be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ramon and Esperanza Quintanilla; his maternal grandparents, Luciano and Amelia Farias; five uncles, Juan Ramon Quintanilla, Zeferino Farias, Sr., Onofre Farias, Eduardo "Wayo" Farias, and Adan Farias, Sr.

Mr. Quintanilla is survived by his two daughters, Miranda Quintanilla and Sophia Michelle Quintanilla; spouse, Christian Quintanilla of McAllen; his parents, Roberto, Sr. and Eva Quintanilla, both of San Juan; a brother, Juan Cosme Quintanilla of Pharr; a sister, Dina Quintanilla of McAllen; fours uncles, Luciano Farias, Jr., Carlos Farias, Robert Farias, Ramiro Quintanilla; four aunts, Nelda Martinez, Rachel Farias, Rosie Handy, Rachel Quintanilla.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a 6 p.m. rosary Monday, January 10, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan. Funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home in San Juan.

My deepest condolences in the loss of Robert. He was an ex-student of mine as a 2nd grader in 1990-1991 at Sorensen Elem. He was a very good student.
Oh God, we are saddened by the death by those we love! Bring Robert into the everlasting joy of your presence. May he have Eternal Rest. Amen.
