Rodolfo Garcia Obituary
Rudy was well-known for his cooking skills and his golfing, as well as always entertaining relatives and friends. He was famous for his barbeques and created his own special sauce recipe. Rudy was an avid golfer and well-known in McAllen and Mission for being president of the Pan American Golf Association, President of the Valley Golf Association, tournament director for many years for the Knights of Columbus in McAllen, a member of the McAllen Parks and Recreation and the McAllen General Hospital Board. He also served many years as president of the Shary Golf Course Golf Association and the director for the Winter Texan Golf Tournament in Mission.
Rudy was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, having been initiated into the Knights of Columbus in May of 1957, St. Joseph's Council #3169, and later on joined the Fourth Degree Knights when he moved to McAllen. He served as captain of the Honor Guard for the K. of C. Assembly in McAllen. Once he moved to Mission, he served as a lector for St. Paul Catholic Church and was very active in the St. Paul's Knights of Columbus Council #2698.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Ric Brown Family Funeral Home, 621 E. Griffin Parkway, Mission, Texas. Visitation will be Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 3-9 p.m. with a same day Rosary from 7-8 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1119 N. Francisco Ave., Mission, will be at 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2021. Burial to follow at Rio Grande Veterans Cemetery, 2520 Inspiration Rd., Mission.
In lieu of flowers, please have a Mass said or donate to the charity of your choice. Due to the escalation of Covid-19, the family is requesting that visitors please wear masks.

Very much admired by the local golfing community, and a great friend of my father. As a child, I caddied many a rounds for my father who was a regular in Rudy's group back in the 70's. He had a great life...may he Rest In Peace

I considered Rudy a good friend. We enjoyed many golf games together over the years. I am sure he used some of my golf balls I hit over in his yard.

We mourn the loss of our good friend Rudy. We became friends in the early '70s when Bill Randolph and a group of members established the Mission Golf Association. Rudy lived off of the fairway on hole 3. Many of my drives would up in his yard. He was very competitive and did not like to lose. He was an insurance salesman, so he had a lot of time on his hands to work on his game. I am certain that he will be teeing it upon God's luscious fairways. Rest in peace Rudy. To his family, we extend our deepest condolences.
