A Poem for My Dad and Mom
Tina and Ruben Gonzales
A Poem for a Love That Lives On
By Eric Christopher Gonzales
Together they walked, hand in hand,
Through the quiet valleys and golden land.
Tina, so gentle, with a mother´s warm smile,
And Ruben beside her, strong all the while.
Years wove their story, a tapestry bright,
Of laughter and struggles and love´s guiding light.
In simple embraces, in moments well-spent,
Their days bore the fragrance of deep content.
Tina now rests where the roses bloom free,
Her voice in the breeze, her soul in the sea.
But love doesn´t end when a heartbeat is gone-
It lingers in memories, forever lives on.
And Ruben, dear Ruben, with ninety brave years,
Still carries her love through joy and through tears.
A pillar of wisdom, with stories to tell,
Of a woman he cherished, and loved so well.
To both, we give honor, with reverent hearts-
Two souls united, though now far apart.
Yet one day again, as the Scriptures have said,
They´ll rise with no sorrow, no tears to be shed.
So here's to Tina, and Ruben so true,
A love everlasting-forever with you.

A Poem for My Dad
A Poem For Dad Using The 1st Letters of His Name...Rising early, heart so wide,
Under stars and morning´s light,
Bearing burdens with quiet grace,
Each step steady, slow, and right.
Never seeking praise or fame-
he walks with honor in his name.
Gentle hands that built and taught,
Open arms that held and caught.
Noble spirit, strong yet mild,
Zeal and courage, soft and wild.
A light that guides, a voice that calms,
Love that shelters, like open palms.
Every moment shaped with care,
Speaks of a life that´s always there.
From Ruben Gonzales, a name so true,
Comes warmth, and wisdom, and skies so blue.
Jehovah sees, and in His sight-
He blesses this man of love and might."

2 Timoth 3:1-5
"In the new world the happiest of times will be here. For men will be lovers of others, lovers of spiritual treasures, modest, humble, praisers of God, obedient to parents, thankful, loyal, having great affection for their families, open to agreement, always speaking well of others, self-controlled, mild, lovers of goodness, trustworthy, yielding, lowly in mind, lovers of God rather than lovers of pleasures, motivated by genuine godly devotion; and to these people stick closely.

In Loving Memory of My Father, Ruben Gonzalez
June 21st, 2025 - 11:10 p.m.
Dear Dad,
You were more than just my father-you were a quiet strength in my life, a man of deep love, steady guidance, and unwavering devotion. As I remember you now, my heart is filled with gratitude for everything you did-for the long days, the selfless sacrifices, and the tenderness you never failed to show.
You and Mom gave me the gift of love-the kind of love that is constant, secure, and shaping. From my earliest memories, I knew I was cherished. You both molded me with patience, taught me with kindness, and led me by example. You showed me how to endure, how to care, and how to live with purpose.
Dad, I want you to know that I love you with all my heart, with all my mind, and with all my soul-just as I love Jehovah God. That love for you runs deep, and nothing-not even death-can take it away.
Thank you for being the man you were. Thank you for being my father. I carry you with me always.
With all my love,
Your son, Eric Gonzales

As a 12 yr old boy in McAllen in 1952 who loved the Bulldogs, I thought Ruben was Superman.
