I remember meeting Joey my first year of teaching at Leo Marcell Elementary School. Joey would come to room after school asking if there was anything he could help me with. Always a hard working student he excelled throughout the school year. That was in the early 1990s. A couple of years ago his mom Dora Jimenez called me to come over to the house because Joey wanted to gift me with my favorite team's football Jersey. Joey was always there to help and I cannot thank him enough for all that he did for me. God Bless You and yours. See you in heaven one day!!! : )

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to SGT Jose Angel (Joey) Jimenez, Jr. our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Joey. And to Joey it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom while serving in the U.S. Army. Joey, no greater patriotism is shown than a soldier devotes his life in service to his country. We bid you a sad farewell. While you will be dearly missed from among our ranks, you will always be remembered for your dedicated and loyal service to our great nation. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Joey's family and loved ones.
