I will miss you my dear brother. I know you are now pain free and not dealing with health issues. I know, too, that you are reunited with Neva...and that reunion must have been wonderful. Thank you for always being such a good brother.....God bless you.

He taught me how to think outside the box, to challenge myself and was one of my biggest supporters. Thank you Mr. Hascall!

TH, always Mr. Hascall... The ultimate teacher, speech and debate coach, and overall human being! You always encouraged us to push harder and be better and keep trying!
Four years on the Debate and Speech team were beyond influential and the best school memories ever!

Thane was one of the most influential teachers in my life. His love of literature and the English language has stayed with me throughout my life.
The plays he directed were a mix of fun and hard work. Loved "Lily the Felon´s Daughter" melodrama.

Thane Hascall was a gem of a teacher who somehow spoke every student individually-28-30 at a time. He personalized teaching to extract the most from each person. He never taught "to the masses" but rather zeroed in on each student. I marvel to this day from what I learned about speech and English. Thanks Mr Hascall. You made a difference.

One of the greatest teachers AHS ever had. He cared so much about his students.
My heart goes out to the family. He is so loved by many.

I only considered ever calling him Mr.Hascall, because I had the highest level of respect for him. He had to work at the Journey through Life, like the rest of us. However, he was an excellent Human Being and I hope to see him on the other side.

Some teachers leave a lasting impression on you all your life. Even if you only ever had them for one class. Thane was one of those. He was an excellent hands off, thought-provoking intellectual high school teacher, which is rare and a small Iowa community. My heart goes out to his close friends and family.

Deepest sympathy to Thane´s family. He was a special coworker and friend. I remember when he and other teachers participated in the Faculty Follies. He and other high school teachers participated in 2 sketches: "The Chicken Choir " & the men also dressed up in Roman togas made of sheets-it was very serious -it was very serious until the end when the 2 sides spit water at each other. How he convinced Tom Rial to do it I never figured out.

Thane, What can you say about someone who taught us about confusion, hard work, and growing up. You helped us figure out who we were meant to be and pointed us in the right direction. There are no words, just admiration. You and Neva can enjoy everything together now. Love to you both and we will try to carry on. Thanks for the memories, Coach! Renee

He was a sensational teacher, director, and mentor. In one class, maybe sophomore year, he personally chose books for each class member to read...and learn something new from. His choices for me were Crime and Punishment and Les Miserables.
