Thomas Stocker Obituary

McAllen - Thomas George Stocker was reunited with his son William in Heaven on January 9, 2021 and will be dearly missed.

Tom is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Ellen (Payne); sons, Andrew and Spencer; daughter-in-law, Wendy; granddaughters, Jocelyn, Brynlee, and Charlotte; siblings, Ned, Cathy, Bill, Mary and their spouses; many nieces, nephews, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his son, William Thomas.

Tom was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 28, 1947 and grew up attending Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School. He was a proud member of Boy Scout Troop 68 and Explorer Post 62. He graduated from McAllen High School, proudly served in the U.S. Navy, and upon his return from tours in Vietnam, he graduated from Pan American University. He spent most of his professional career in commercial office supplies and made time to be an active member in numerous community organizations, including the Rotary Club, Boys and Girls Club, McAllen Chamber of Commerce, McAllen Greeters, Leadership McAllen, Boy Scouts of America, and many others.

As a dedicated parishioner of St. John's Episcopal Church, Tom grew closer to the Lord through his service and involvement in youth group activities, community outreach groups, and management of construction projects. He loved fishing in the Laguna Madre and hunting in the South Texas brush country with his dear friends.

An outdoor service will be held on Saturday, January 16th at 10:00 AM at St. John's Episcopal Church in McAllen. He will then be interred at Valley Memorial Gardens. The service will also be streamed on St. John's Facebook page. Please wear a fishing shirt to the service in honor of his love for fishing.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to support the Tom Stocker Memorial Fund at St. John's.

He was an amazing influence in my younger days - he would track to the ends of the world to help me, never judging me, just loving me in his own way - it was a love from his heart. I cry that I will never see him on this side of heaven but hope to fish with him in glory telling him how much I loved him and praise God that he put me in his life.
