Victor Baca Obituary
PHARR - On Friday, May 29, 2009 Victor Baca was Tragically deceased in an automobile accident in Colton County, Ca. He was born in Killeen, TX on September 1, 1985. The only son and the middle child of three born to Dr. Americo Miguel Baca and Lourdes Baca.
A talented, musical genius, he enjoyed serving God with his talents. His musical career started while attending high school at Valley Grande Academy in Weslaco, TX. He then attended and graduated from Southwestern Adventist University with a B.A. Major in Music and a minor in Theology in May 2008.
His Love for music took him to California where he earned a Masters in Music Education from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, CA. on May 15, 2009.
Victor's musical emphasis and specialty was the trumpet, although his musical talents included guitar, piano all wind and wooden instruments. Along with his Vocal Talent, his kind heart and selfless giving character, Victor's ministry touched and influenced many lives along the way.
Victor is survived by his parents and older sister Barbara L. Baca, and younger sister Adriana E. Baca from Pharr, TX.
Visitation will be on Saturday June 6, 2009 at Seventh-Day Adventist Church 121 W. Polk Ave in Pharr from 4 to 9 p.m. with a 6 p.m. Prayer Service. Funeral services will be held at Seventh-Day Adventist Church 602 W. Wisconsin Road in Edinburg at 9 a.m. Phone number 631-1965.Interment will be at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission, TX.
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Funeraria Del Angel in Mission, TX.

The most difficult thing a human can do is to attempt to understand God. On this occasion it is profoundly difficult to comprehend the ultimate purpose of the Lord. But with faith in our hearts and sweet praises, we can honestly say, "...this too shall pass." And when our own time has expired, we will definitely be reunited with all of our departed. Dear Baca Family and Friends,
I am the volunteer coordinator for Heart of Los Angeles/HOLA, a youth development center in the Rampart area. Victor was one of our most beloved volunteers. I remember the first day he came to my office one day in July last year. He and his classmate Phil Herrera interviewed Jose Acosta, HS director and me. Victor was the quietest one, but when he told us about his goals and dreams; he was incredibly outspoken. Every time I would see him, I would thank him for his wonderful help to our kids. He wouldn't say anything; he just smiled back. I didn't know he was Christian or that he served God with his music. That explains why he was very humble, polite and always trying to do the best in life. Now, I admire him even more. I am sure God is proud of him like we all are.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. I never got the privillage to meet your son but I wish I would have. Everyone speaks of him so well, that it almost feels that I have met him. But I know the day will come when I will be able to meet him in heaven. May he rest in peace till the time comes that we shall meet again. Dear Baca Family;
Something drew my eye to your son, Victor as I was going through the on-line pages, not intending to read the obituaries today. It was difficult to comprehend the tragedy as he was so young & had so much to live for. My two sons graduated Thursday night and have a love and passion for music and want to study in California as well. I saw the similarities and it broke my heart reading about your beloved son, Victor.

Dear Baca Family,
I cannot recall all the times Victor visited our home in Keene. He was always welcome and brought so much laughter and joy to all of our occasions. About 3 weeks ago we invited him to have Sabbath lunch with us, at my brothers home in Loma Linda. He was so pleseant, patiently helping me understand my new iphone. He shared his future plans with us and we had such a great time with him. I am so happy we spent that time together. The Lord blessed your son/brother with an infectious smile and wonderful music ministry. Though I was not much more then an acquaintance to Victor, what I remember about him is his Music. Seeing him sing with Johnathan and the group left me in awe. He was very talented and was alway smiling. He left an impression many people! Even those of us who didnt have the privilege of knowing him personally... May God bless you and your family.

Dearest Baca Family,
I am Victor's closest friend from USC. We worked on most of our projects together and spent a great amount of time learning, listening and experiencing music. I am completely devastated for your loss and mine. Victor was always there for me throughout my hardships in grad school and we managed to graduate together. He was always a man of God and wanted to be successful so he can change the world. He would always call me and tell me what his plans were for the future. Of course, they changed on day to day basis but I always listened and encouraged him to do what was best. He always informed me with new information that was beneficial for me and wanted both of us to graduate with our doctorate together. He is a great conductor, believer, musician and friend. I sincerely loved him a lot and wouldn't have made it through grad school without him. The last thing I remember him saying to me at graduation was how he and I were going to get married if both of us received our doctorate by the time we were 30. I do sincerely love him and I pray that Lord have mercy on him and his family.

I am completely devastated that you had to leave so soon and at an early age. You are the most wonderful person I have ever met and I will never forget you. I cut down on meat because of you! The Hollywood Bowl is playing great concerts during the summer and I wanted to spend it with you. It's very unfortunate and its a complete shock you had to leave. I remembered you said to me last month that you wanted to be remembered if you died. You wanted to be famous and known as a musical sensation. I have known Victor since he was of elementary age. As a music teacher, I was so pleased in my heart when I saw his love for music blossom into a passion to share and teach music. He had just received his Masters Degree in music education on May 15!! The loss of Victor is beyond expression. I trust in God, who lost His own Son, to sustain our Faith in the Resurrection. There will be no greater joy to see our loved ones again and hold them in our arms.
