He was a special friend, witty and cordial, and a joy to be around. We played a lot of golf together. After many road trips to different golf courses, he especially enjoyed Rancho Viejo because of its proximity to Mexico, where we enjoyed dinner and drinks after our round. I learned to know Ward during my YFU exchange student year 1969 - 70 in Pharr, Texas, living with the Price Thrall family. Ward Skinner and James Thrall were my family brothers and closest friends, not to forget Joe Hernandez and all other PSJA Srs 70 graduates.
This was a sad surprise, Ward, God bless your soul up there!

I graduated from Commonwealth with Ward and had not heard about this until reading a notice in the NFDA Director magazine. My sympathy to you. Wish I knew more about Ward between 1975 and now but he sure sounds like a good man.

I have such great memories of Ward. Playing after school at Whitney, going to his house on Caffery, going to Jefferson Jr High football games and the great times with the class of 1970 are times I fondly remember. I am so sad to lose my friend. Ward and I had so many childhood memories together and still stayed in touch. We would always try to call on each others birthday and I last talked to him in December but only got voice mail on January 3rd. I cannot help but think of him almost daily as he gave me a nick name when we were in the 4th grade and that name is still with me to this day. God bless Renee, Sandy and the entire family.
