William Holmes Obituary

Oklahoma City - 1962-2022

Standing 6' 5", Lassiter was a man of many talents and accomplishments, but most of all he was just a great human being that loved with all he could, gave with everything he had, and cared about others with a heart as big as they come.

It is with great sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Lassiter Holmes, in Oklahoma City, on Monday, June 27, 2022, at the age of 60.

Lassiter faced many obstacles throughout his life: losing his own father at the age of two, a career ending football injury, beating Hodgkin lymphoma in his twenties and the death of his two year old son to name a few. He accepted his challenges and handled them with grace, never complaining, with a positive attitude and encouraged others to do the same.

Lassiter was born in Fort Hood, Texas. He graduated high school from Strake Jesuit and college from Southern Methodist University. He went onto the University of Tulsa College of Law and later settled in McAllen, Texas where he became a well known and respected attorney.

Lassiter was extremely intelligent and was referred to as a genius, by many. He understood the intricacies of the world and used his knowledge to help others. He listened and gave the best advice, never judging and always encouraging. He was humble and fearless. He ventured into acting at nearly the age of 50 and performed in some major studio films, TV shows, as well as theater plays before sold out crowds that received standing ovations. He enjoyed his mustangs, cameras and had many hobbies.

Lassiter's greatest love was for his children: William Lassiter Holmes IV, Brian Christopher Holmes and Natalie Faith Holmes; as well as, his former wife and best friend for life, Jeanne Holmes. His favorite thing to do was watch movies and Netflix shows with his kids, while eating a tub of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Lassiter Holmes, Jr. And Donna K. West, as well as his son, Richard Grant Holmes.

Lassiter is also survived two uncles, James Holmes and Jim Holmes, cousins, Stacey Holmes and Jennifer Holmes. He is also survived by Hugh Hackney, Dr. Janet Tate and Consuelo Bautista.

During the last six months, Lassiter worked with Pilgrim Productions and The Street Outlaws Crew. He was blessed to have found wonderful people that he traveled with and worked with almost daily. They became a second family to him and he got to know the most outstanding friends. His hard work, wisdom and positive energy was respected by all.

Lassiter's request was to be cremated and his ashes to be buried with his son and father-in-law, in Honolulu, Hawaii. His hope is that one day all of his family will be united together.

The family will gather at a later date for a private service.

Memorial donations in memory of Lassiter may be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
