Alta Smith Obituary
Dec. 2, 1936-June 14, 2012
Alta May Smith, age 75, of Ithaca, MI, passed away Thursday, June 14, 2012, at her home.
Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes Ithaca Chapel, Ithaca, Michigan on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Botsford officiating. Burial will take place at Pritchard Cemetery, Sumner Township, MI. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Monday, June 18, 2012 from 2 to 8 p.m. with family present from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Alta was born in Lansing, Michigan on December 2, 1936, the daughter of Alton and May (Buxton) Kilts. On August 27, 1953, Alta married Melvin Smith in Lansing, MI. Melvin died on April 21, 2007. Alta enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. She also liked playing cards knitting and crocheting. Alta loved to spend time with her family.
She is survived by daughter, Patricia and Chris Knopf of Elwell, MI; daughter, Robin Kinney of Ithaca, MI; son, Rick and Brenda Smith of Lansing, MI; daughter, Elena Burr of Perrinton, MI; son, Scott Smith of Ithaca, MI; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and sister, Eloise and Lloyd Steppey of Shelby Twp. MI. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Melvin; granddaughter, Donna May Peters; and sister, Beth Gentner.

Grandma always knew how start my day I would get to work half sleeping still and she would have me awake with a smile on my face before I could get the door closed I will miss her so much the thing that makes me dry my tears and put a smile on my face is she is back with Grandpa now and I know they are with Jesus having the best time ever miss you both xoxoxo

My thoughts and Prayers go out to all of you. It was such and honor to get to know such a wonderful lady. I never walked into the house without a smile on that lovely face. She will surely be missed. Thanks for letting her be a part of our lives.

Grandma Smith was a dear and lovely lady that my Kids and I have gotten to know for the past few yrs and it was greatfully appreciated to meet Alta she will be dearly missed and never forgotten it will never be the same without her around God Bless You now you may rest in peace love you Grandma Smith
