Beverly Jean Shoemaker

Beverly Jean Shoemaker age 83; of Prudenville passed into the greater life on Thursday March 29, 2012.
Beverly was born on June 25, 1928 in Alma, Michigan; to Chester & Vergil (Whitcraft) Thompson. Beverly graduated from Alma High School in 1946. She married Richard Shoemaker on Jan.3, 1947, in Rosebush; together the couple has shared over 65 years of marriage. Beverly began working at the Alma Dairy, later worked for the late Dr. Frank Wassenaar of Alma as a dental assistant, bank teller in Alma and later in West Branch. She was socially active and was a member of the Pine River Country Club golf league and the West Branch Country Club golf league. She was also a member of the Gratiot Community Hospital Auxiliary and the West Branch Regional Medical Center Auxiliary. Beverly was an active member of the Roscommon VFW Auxiliary Post 4159. The couple was active in the Alma Dance Club. She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Alma and the Kirk of the Lakes Presbyterian Church in Prudenville.
Beverly is survived by her loving husband Richard Shoemaker of Prudenville; Son; Dr. Rod Shoemaker of Saginaw, Son; Michael (Linda) Shoemaker of Lake Ann, Grandson; Peter Shoemaker of Newport, R.I., Grandson; Joseph Shoemaker of Lake Placid, N.Y., four great grandchildren, niece; Jill (William) Stoneman and Merlyn (Ann) Thompson of Breckenridge. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister; Elaine Webster of Lansing.
Visitation is scheduled at Christler Funeral Home- Prudenville Chapel on Sunday April 1, from 2 to 5 p.m. Funeral is scheduled for Monday April 2, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Douglas Stockwell will conduct the service. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Alma. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association 526 West Chisholm, Alpena, Mi. 49707.
