Charles Peterson Obituary

age 84, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away. Funeral Services for Pete will be held Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 12 p.m. at Clark Family Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jeremy Selvidge officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow in the Reflections Reception Center. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Clark Family Funeral Chapel on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m., with a Masonic service taking place at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Saturday one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral chapel. Pete was born October 12, 1934, in Niles, Michigan the son of Marion and Mary (Newburg) Peterson. He graduated Mt. Pleasant High School with the class of 1952. Pete married Ellen Muterspaugh on May 4, 1957 in Mt. Pleasant. He worked for Dow Chemical for 42 years. He worked many jobs in those years, 22 years in the plastics lab, 10 years in the paint shop, and 10 years in stocking and receiving. Pete was a life member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed playing the harmonica at a younger age. Pete enjoyed fishing, hunting, nature, and exercising at the wellness center. Pete is survived by his wife Ellen Peterson of Mt. Pleasant; four children: Kimberly Peterson of Seattle, Arthur Peterson of Mt. Pleasant, Mary Beth (Mark) Clare of Mt. Pleasant, and Jill (Mike) McAuliffe of Liberty Township, OH; grandchildren Jennifer (Ben) Schanck of Mt. Pleasant, Nic (Candis) Clare of Idaho, Meagan Peterson of Seattle, Nick McAuliffe of Trenton, OH, Hannah McAuliffe of Liberty Twp., OH, and Leslie Clare of Mt. Pleasant; 7 great-grandchildren Logan, Eva, Mason, Addison, Mariah, Luna, and Ellenor; 3 brothers James (Loretta) Peterson of Midland, David (Donna) Peterson of Ludington, and Joel Peterson of Allegan; and many nieces and nephews.
