DANCER, DONALD E. Age 80, of Alma passed away unexpectedly on January 1, 2017 at his home with his family by his side. He was born March 14, 1936 in Wheeler, Michigan the son of Leroy and Mary (Painter) Dancer. He married Patricia A. Smith on August 28, 1954 and together they raised three children. Don enjoyed his family and loved having all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren over to visit. Don worked highway construction for many years and then for Alma Iron and Metal as a Crane Operator and Mechanic until his retirement. In 2010 he fought and beat lung cancer! He and Pat spent the past 20 years camping at Tubbs Lake, where he was known as, “The Mayor.” He met many beloved friends while camping. To many he was known as, “DD.” Don is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia of Alma; his children, sons, Randy (Rodys) Dancer, Steven Dancer, daughter, Vickie (Brian Lombard) Dancer all of Alma, three grandchildren, Jon (Heidi) Dancer of Alma, Jenifer (Matt) McArthur of Shepherd, Jessica (Greg Walejewski) Dancer of Grand Rapids, four great-grandchildren, Julian, Kole, Myles and Maycee. He is also survived by two brothers, Junior (Garda) Dancer of Lansing and Gwendal Dancer of St. Louis, two sisters-in-law, Geri Dancer and Virginia Dancer both of Alma, special friend and neighbor, Gerd Boyle. He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters, Leroy, Duane, Kenny, Irma, Betty, Thelma, Marcella, Lucille and Wanda. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lux-Moody-Wolfel Funeral Home, Alma officiated by Pastor Harold Myers. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 3 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dancer Family.
