Eugene Bushey Obituary

BUSHEY, EUGENE 'GENE' REED, age 98, of Hastings, MI went to his Lord and Savior Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at Carveth Village in Middleville. Funeral Services for Gene will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jon Croft officiating. A luncheon will be held at the church following the Service. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the First Church of the Nazarene on Friday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Church of the Nazarene. Envelopes will be available at Clark Family Funeral Chapel and the church. Gene was born August 29, 1924, in Shelby, Ohio, the son of the late Paul and Florence (Wilson) Bushey. He married Edith Campbell, his college sweetheart from Pickford, MI on June 12, 1947, in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Gene worked for Central Michigan University as a storeroom supervisor for 20 years. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and MARSP, and sang in various choirs for 71 years. Gene enjoyed woodworking, managing his rental properties, and his hours volunteering as the Head of the Building and Grounds board for the First Church of the Nazarene. He moved to Hastings, MI in 2015 and lived with his daughter, Margo. Gene is survived by his children, Richard (Kay) Bushey of Flushing, Rodney (Cynthia) Bushey of Howell, and Margo (Richard) Moore of Hastings; grandchildren, Joseph (Sarah) Bushey, Brent (Kirsten) Bushey, Brian (Erika) Bushey, Tricia (Michael) Lacey, Greg (Michelle) Bushey, Andrew (Kayla) Moore, and Emily Moore; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen (William) Hudspeth of Bement, IL, Betty Zolman of Sandusky, OH; brother-in-law Robert (Ella) Campbell of Lake Wales, FL; sisters-in-law, Audrey Tarolli of Owosso, Betty Jose of Shelby, OH; and many nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Edith Bushey; infant son, Mark Harvey; parents; brothers, Wilson, Dick, Lloyd, Jose, Carl, Robert Bushey; sisters, Minnie Long, Thelma Carver, Alice Leon.
