James E. Florian

1943 - 2014

Florian, James E.; age 71; Shepherd; passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014; at MidMichigan Medical Center-Gratiot, in Alma. Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 11 a.m. from St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church, in Shepherd, with Deacon Mike Smith, officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Berry Funeral Home and from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Church. Jim was born April 23, 1943, in Alma, to William and Bernice (Quinlan) Florian. Jim married Elma Temple, September 30, 1967. He served in the US Army Reserves. He retired from Fisher Body in Lansing after 30 years of service; he also famed while working at Fisher Body and continued farming after his retirement until his health no longer permitted him to. Jim loved the outdoors and going fishing, hunting, and especially duck hunting, and enjoyed RV’ing in Florida in the winters. Jim is survived by his wife, Elma; and two children, Jamie (Craig Jr.) Hacker of Webberville and Keelan (Renee) Florian of Mt. Pleasant; four grandchildren, Mara, Rissa, Bree, Bryce Florian; three sisters, Rosanne Florian of Shepherd, Kathleen Florian of Owosso, and Celine (Mike) Austin of St. Louis; and four brothers, William Florian of Colorado, Robert Florian of Mt. Pleasant, Mike (Judy) Florian of Shepherd, and John (Linda) Florian of Shepherd. Jim was preceded in death by his son, Sean Florian; and his parents.
