James Ward Obituary

James D. Ward; age 77 of St. Louis, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at MidMichigan Medical Center – Midland. Jim was born June 14, 1943 the son of Dale and Evelyn (Green) Ward. He married Harriet Schultz on November 2, 1963. In his younger years, Jim did stock car racing. He was a hard working mechanic and farmer. Jim enjoyed helping people and did a lot of round bailing for others. He was a lover of animals and enjoyed going to the Crystal Motor Speedway. He also enjoyed going on camping and fishing trips with the family. Jim is survived by his wife Harriet; 5 children Ruth (Rob) Maurer of Lansing, Lori (Phil) Lewis of St. Louis, Allen Ward of St. Louis, Sandra Verstreate of St. Louis, and P.J. (Chris) Franklin of Shepherd; 6 grandchildren Zachary, Heather, Nicole, Christopher, David, and Jayden; 2 great grandchildren Nicole and Ethan; 3 siblings Viola Woodbury, Nellie Schick, and Ervin Ward all of St. Louis; and several nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded by both his parents; siblings Natalie Pascoe and Lawrence Ward; and brothers-in-law Lewis Woodbury and Bernie Schick. There will be a private family service for Jim on Monday, March 1 at Berry Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with Pastor Ron Frederick officiating. The service will also be livestreamed on the Berry Funeral Home Facebook page and available to watch later as well. There will be visitation on Sunday, February 28 from 2-8 p.m.

Jim was such a helpful man. He such a hard worker. He always went out of his way for others. He was so good to his family. Tom really liked Jim and teaching him things with Chris. Lots of times. prayers to the family. Jim was always there for my family when needed.. he always told me what car NOT to buy because he was not fixing it but he always did. He always loved to come to the house and play with the kittens and dogs. If there is anything i can do to help the family, just let me know. love you all.. RIP Gimp ( Jim ) you are now healed and can breath better.
