John Mitchell van Page

van Page, John Mitchell, Sr.; formerly of Gratiot County, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014; in Bonita Beach, Florida; at the age of 84. He was born in LaGrange, Illinois to Wilbur and Lois van Page. John graduated from Michigan State University in 1952 and was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He married Susan Flanagan and had three children, Mitch (Ginger) van Page, Barb (Bob) Lombardi and Jeff (Carol) van Page. John was a successful cattle farmer in Breckenridge for over 30 years and enjoyed many trips out west to buy livestock. John married Sally Dewey on April 9, 1983 and had two step-children, Tom (Kim) Dewey and Lori (Ken) Halliwill.He enjoyed 65 years as a member of The Grass Lake Hunting and Fishing Lodge, near Baldwin, MI, where he spent time with friends and family, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He also served as president and was elected as a life time member of the Lodge.John was a member of the Pine River Country Club in Alma where he enjoyed the competition of golf and the many friends he made as a member. John was also a member of the Elks Lodge both in Alma, Michigan and Bonita Springs, Florida. He was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs. John and Sally moved to Bonita Beach, Florida in 1985 where he was a successful real estate agent and sold many properties on the beach where his parents had built one of the first homes. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Bonita Springs, Men’s Ministry Fellowship at First Church, 9751 Bonita Beach Rd.
