While it is so hard to lose a parent, it becomes easier remembering the best parts of them. Hold those in your heart and never let them go.

We're all going to miss Jon terribly. His absence is leaving a big hole in our hearts, a hole that is probably biggest and will be the most deeply felt by his son Jonathan.

As Jonathan's mother, I've been thinking a lot about how Alex and I will see him through this tough time. I've also thought about what Jon would have wanted us to teach him about life. If you know and love Jon, you have probably heard him share some of these thoughts. I think he would want Jonathan, and maybe all of us, to know and remember:

"Take your time and do it right." Anything worth doing deserves your full attention and best effort.

"Go outside and get the stink blown off you." Nature and natural order were the closest things to religion to Jon, a religion that never failed him or made him doubt.

"The ashtray and the paddle game, that's all I need." Jon was never concerned with collecting material goods. He was always much more about experiences and human connection.

"Actions are everything." Jon always said that words are empty; it's your actions that show what you mean, what you feel, and who you are.

"They call it 'fishing,' not 'catching.'" Despite your best efforts, and despite doing everything right, sometimes things don't turn out the way you hope they will. But you don't give up fishing.

"Lighten up, Francis." Find what makes you happy and do as much of it as you can. Leave the rest alone.

"You can't go through life with a dirty windshield." Live your life with eyes wide open and notice beauty around you.

Rest well, dear Jon. We'll miss you, but never forget you.

My Condolences to the Sinko Family. Jon had put up a long and hard struggle for the past couple of years. I know in my heart that he is at peace now and in a much better place.
Jon will always have a special place in my heart...were we married for a couple of years when we were young and we remained friends through out his life time.
He was a good person who had a beautiful soul, he was a passionate man who followed his heart in doing the things he loved to do and enjoyed his life to the fullest until his body wouldn't allow him to do so anymore.
I thank God that I shared my youth with him. He taught me a lot about life and even when I was very sick he was there for me, and at the end... God blessed him with Tina to be there in his life when he needed someone to take care of him!
I remember last year he told me how blessed he was to have such a great son and was grateful to Carol for being such a phenomenal mother and how much he knew that she would be there for their Son Jon when he couldn't be.
Jon was not a sappy person and I do not cry for his leaving this place. He is with his dad, and will always be with us in spirit. He is not struggling any more and I know he is happy again.
May God help the Sinko Family find comfort at this time of loss.

My sincerest condolences to the entire Sinko family. I knew Jon from the time we were in kindergarten, and feel blessed to have been able to get to reconnected with him over the last 5 years. He was a true friend and will be deeply missed. Words just seem to be so insufficient at a time like this..I will miss you friend.
