Larry D. Helman, age 67, of Alma, MI, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2012.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Elk's in Alma on Sunday, September 9, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.
Larry was born on April 22, 1945 in Sumner, MI to Ivan and Beatrice Helman. He was an Alma Policeman for 9 years and Gratiot County Sheriff for 5 years. He then went into private business with Lippert Components for 13 years, and then to Bear Truss in St. Louis until his retirement.
Larry had a good life. He enjoyed people and most of his life his work involved people. He had no regrets and always looked forward to the next challenge. Larry and his wife enjoyed cruising on their motorcycle and their grandchildren were the light of his life. What more can you ask?
Surviving Larry are his wife of 47 years, Monnie; two children, Jacquelyn (Ed) Cahill of VA and Joseph Helman (Aimee Lehmkuhle) of Alma; five grandchildren, Nathanial and Alexander Helman and Carly, Ian, and Abigail Cahill; and a sister, Karen (Bill) Hollabaugh.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Hospital or the American Heart Association.
The family is being served by the Dewey Funeral Home of Alma.
